On Instructional Design

About Image

Every instructional design project is an opportunity to elicit the best in learners. The most effective training empowers learners to experience real-world scenarios, make reasoned decisions, practice new skills, and connect with communities of practice. Instructional design is a systematic approach to instruction, yes; but as such it is the most measurably effective way to enrich the lives of others through powerful learning experiences.

Learning is innately pleasurable to humans, and yet most of us dislike our schooling and training experiences. The desires to create, solve problems, and think critically are in us all, but often we're only expected to recall facts and regurgitate information. As an experienced educator and instructional designer, I aim to have the highest expectations of learners and rigorous standards in the application of the ADDIE model in order to make excellent learning tools and experiences.
